Cristin (8)

Card Used:   Story Snippet (8) POV: Cristin Three more weeks, that’s how much time passed after Cristin started working on his skills in Kasi’s language, and it was currently one of the few things keeping his routine from crumbling, a fact he was little used to. Either way, it seems that the timing served him well, as Cristin got an unexpected visit the current day after hearing a few knocks on his Study Room door.  Unused to such interruptions, Cristin cautiously approached his door, caught off guard by what it opened up to. “Good day young Cristin,” the Chandalyn said, giving a smile and a small nod. Four words in and Cristin felt like his brain was short-circuiting, what was a Representative of the Diamond Committee doing in the Amethyst House? And what was happening that caused them to know his name, let alone to acknowledge him? “Due to certain circumstances, your expertise is needed at the Elder’s Palace, it is recommended that you take a few minutes to properly prepare yoursel

Cristin (7)

Card Used:   Story Snippet (7) POV: Cristin “You’ve been undesirably distracted lately,” Eed noted after Cristin trialed off for the second time that day, “I’ve never seen you this way since you were five.” Cristin sighed, he was well aware of his sudden lack of proper attention, but he couldn’t seem to do anything about it; it had been that way the entire week after that day. Indeed, it had been seven days since he’d watched the Onyx Division walk out with that stranger, Kasi, after which Cristin had returned to his Study Room to make up for lost time and hadn’t been properly motivated since. Whenever he tried to focus on the language he was currently studying, his mind would reflect back on that short time he had, and he would begin to feel things he hadn’t remembered feeling for a long time. It was sort of unnerving, considering Cristin had a hard time regulating his emotions already, so these resurfacing feelings were messing with him. Of course, if he let himself think about it,

Chandalyns (File Piece)

(This file has been edited by: Bellavenna) (This file is unfinished)  Chandalyns Notable Attributes White skin with blue undertones, big pointed ears, pale blue mouths, tough interiors meant for consuming crystals. Their eye color will always match their hair color, hair dye does not exist on their planet, the most common hair color is blond and navy blue, but their hair could be any other color or even a mix. The tallest recorded Chandalyn was 6’0”, the shortest was 4’0”, their average life expectancy is about 300 human years (150 Chandalyn years). Chandalyns do not need to eat, they simply inhale crystal dust made in little packets for nutrients. A very plain food pallet, though they more commonly dissolve it in drinks and have it that way. ( Having no food to enjoy, I could never imagine such a place to live in ) They will always be found wearing clothes covering everything besides the head and hands, as it is customary. Culture The Chandalyns are very perfectionistic and obsessed w

Cristin (6)

Card Used:   Story Snippet (6) POV: Cristin As he guessed, a few Chandalyns walked through the door, they had an air of seriousness to them as they approached, wearing blank expressions and similar uniforms with the distinctive black coloring paired with white. These were indeed Chandalyns from the Onyx Division, though it was Cristin’s first time seeing them in person. They certainly matched the rumors he had heard about them, and looking at them face to face made him slightly uneasy. Even so, Cristin rushed to get up and nodded slightly, his mind racing with all the etiquette and rules he had been taught throughout his life, the presence of adults making him more nervous. The Chandalyn on the right, a female with loose dark blue hair and stern eyes, motioned to the side with her head, and Cristin realized that he was still standing in front of Kasi. He cleared his throat softly as he moved away, hoping he didn’t look too flustered in that moment. Kasi was looking up from his positi

Cristin (5)

Card Used:   Story Snippet (5) POV: Cristin It wasn’t much longer until the other Aides left with the children to return to the nursery, but Cristin and Eed had to stay until the Onyx Division arrived. As such, Cristin was now sitting next to Kasi, neither saying much; meanwhile Eed seemed to have decided her role in things was completed, and disappeared. Cristin was currently in a war with his thoughts as he rustled with the desire to use this chance to speak with someone from another species, yet at the same time he had no idea how to go about it, especially with his very limited knowledge on Kasi’s language. Seriously, how did those at the Ruby or Emerald House do it? Cristin had heard they were all great at socializing, so surely he could just imitate them… Before he could change his mind, Cristin carefully maneuvered himself to be in front of Kasi. “How did you get out of the Capital?” He started, attempting to initiate some kind of conversation. Unfortunately he only seemed to su

Kasi (2) Past

Card Used: Story Snippet (2) (PAST) POV: Kasi. “Good, you’re awake.” A few small coughs shook the small boy, and Kasi slowly pulled himself up from his previous position on the cold ground, a big improvement from where he previously remembered being. Where was that again? He didn’t recall much except for the blazing heat on his skin, his parched lips, and the large weight on his back that had pulled him down; he must’ve collapsed onto the sand, but beyond that he couldn’t remember. “You passed out in the dessert,” a rusty voice recalled. Kasi looked over to the Adaptor who was sitting next to him on a stone, he had a toughened body and seemed quite old, maybe on his twenty-forth Mark, but his large hands seemed gentle as he clasped a crudely carved cup. He handed Kasi the cup, “drink it, slowly.” Kasi swiped the cup and started gulping down the water, quickly shifting to small sips when the man glared at him. It wasn’t until he was finished that he realized what was missing, and the

Kasi (?) Past

Character Used:                                                   POV: Story Snippet (?) (PAST) POV: Kasi. “Al-most, there…”  Kasi stood up as high as he could, using a stone for support as he attempted to tie a length of colorful orange fabric onto a tree branch. When he accomplished this, he stood back, watching the piece sway in the breeze, backdropped by the heart shaped leafs of the fruit tree. He huffed proudly before plucking one of the plump pink fruits and sitting down under the tree roots. He sat there for a while eating his fruit before hearing the branches rustling, and as he saw the leafs fall on the ground in front of him he looked up. Just then his view was obscured by a sheet of bright orange.  Kasi recognized this immediately as his length of fabric, and rushed to pull it off from his head, the small antlers peaking out from his hair making it more difficult. He succeeded just in time to watch a figure jump down from the top of the tree, a new sheet of red fabric han

Kasi (1) (Past)

Card Used: Story Snippet (1) (PAST) POV: Kasi. “Shhh, hush little one, now is not the time to be crying,” the airy voice comforts the young boy, her hand delicately brushing a tear from his flushed cheek. Kasi looks up towards the wisp hovering around his mother as she finishes strapping the bundle of colorful fabrics to his large pack. “Springtime Peace is near, and I have been called to do special things for our world,” she pulls her hands down from the pack and cups his small face with them. She smiles warmly, but his eyes blur the picture as more tears pool up. “Now, I must go; here-“ she grabs a large conical hat from off the soft sand and pulls it toward Kasi, “take your father’s hat, a token of your family you will now carry with you through this life.” Kasi reaches for it but hesitates, remembering flashes of that terrible night. When his mother sees him hesitate, she flips him around and clips the hat to the back of the pack, then turns him and wraps him in a hug. “Remember

Cristin (4)

Card Used:   Story Snippet (4) POV: Cristin. Cristin timidly walked over to the man, who, now that he was standing, was probably the tallest person Cristin had seen in his life. He was at least six inches taller than Cristin was, and it made him a lot more intimidating than at first. Though it did help that the young Chandalyns had now decided to use the man as a climbing tool, hanging themselves off his arms and trying to jump on his back, so if that’s all they interpreted his height as, then maybe it wasn’t so bad. Either way, Cristin was in front of him now, and realized that staring into his bright yellow eyes did not make for a great introduction, though in his defense he was trying not to look at any of the other distracting features this new individual had; like his tanned and very, very uncovered arms, or his bare feet. He appeared to be wearing some form of tight black suit, but wore a pair of very loose brown pants over it, it seemed they were otherwise kept up by a tight ban

Cristin (3)

Card Used:   Story Snippet (3) POV: Cristin. Maybe it was the fact that everyone had their eyes locked on the newcomer’s black eyes as soon as they opened, or maybe it was just the shock of everything; either way, the freak out was quite the spectacle on both sides, especially when the man exclaimed something as he tried to get up. It even got a few Chandalyns who were attempting to ignore the situation to walk past a little faster than usual. Indeed, all would’ve been over for the peace of the Amethyst House if the little one holding the conical hat hadn’t decided to return it to its owner by shoving it over his face with a panicked screech, while Eed regained her wits and pulled the visitor into an empty room nearby.  Cristin watched all this happen but didn’t quite register anything until everyone else had disappeared into the empty room, when his thoughts finally untangled themselves and he realized he had understood what the man had said. “I know his language!” Cristin announced a

Cristin (2)

Card used: Story Snippet (2) POV: Cristin. “Oh my.” Eed exclaimed from behind, peering over Cristin’s shoulders. “That can’t be right.” Indeed, but as it stands, no one could deny that what was lying in front of them was not from Crystalys.  The dark skin, vastly different from a Chandalyn’s pure white, the strong build, contrasted to a Chandalyn’s petite frame, and the clothes! Oh my, were those exposed shoulders? And feet? Now that was too much, it was enough to make any Chandalyn uncomfortable. Yes, this individual must be trouble, anyone could see it.  And yet he currently wasn’t doing much of anything, lying there on the marble floor, unconscious, perhaps? He must have been, seeing as the toddlers, uneducated as they currently were, wasted no time in messing with his array of colorful orange possessions; their Aides appearing close to a panic attack, if that was possible. They flew around the children, scolding them in their best ‘this is unacceptable!’ Voices. This was to no av

Eed (2) (Past)

Card used: Story Snippet (2) (PAST) POV: Eed. “Off to bed are we?” The Xemish words seemed to drift through one of the Chandalyn’s pointed ears and right out the other as he mumbled about something an intelligent person could only call gibberish. “About time you are, you’ll only be getting a few hours of sleep tonight, but alas, time waits for no one, and measured time is nonexistent in your book, yes?” Cristin says nothing, pointing sleepily at his back. “Right, of course, wouldn’t want to reawaken those sleepy eyes with this, would you?” Eed said as she pulled her crystal hand down the Brace, turning it off for the night. “Well, see you in a few hours,” Eed said as Cristin collapsed onto the bed. It only took a minute, and she could hear the rhythmic breathing of a sleeping boy. Eed sighs as she turns to the window above the study desk. Looking out of it for just a moment, she spots a flash of color on the horizon. “What an abnormal color, perhaps the Ruby House is up late again.”
