Three more weeks, that’s how much time passed after Cristin started working on his skills in Kasi’s language, and it was currently one of the few things keeping his routine from crumbling, a fact he was little used to. Either way, it seems that the timing served him well, as Cristin got an unexpected visit the current day after hearing a few knocks on his Study Room door.
Unused to such interruptions, Cristin cautiously approached his door, caught off guard by what it opened up to.
“Good day young Cristin,” the Chandalyn said, giving a smile and a small nod.
Four words in and Cristin felt like his brain was short-circuiting, what was a Representative of the Diamond Committee doing in the Amethyst House? And what was happening that caused them to know his name, let alone to acknowledge him?
“Due to certain circumstances, your expertise is needed at the Elder’s Palace, it is recommended that you take a few minutes to properly prepare yourself. I will be your escort, and will wait out here for you.”
Okay, now it was a wonder Cristin was even still breathing.
The Elders? As in *the* Elders?! Cristin thought that perhaps it was that time of year where young students were picked to play a part in the Diamond House Studies, because that would’ve been a shock in of itself, but not in a million years did he think that this welcome had anything to do with the people that ran Crystalys’ Society.
“I- I, yes Ma’am,” he said quietly, still in a daze as he closed the door.
It felt as if he was stood in shock for years before a clear voice rang in his ears.
“It is incredibly impolite to keep your superiors waiting,” Eed reminded.
Glad she decided to come out.
“I suggest you get your head back on your shoulders and polish up, this is the day you’ve been training for your entire life, it could very well determine your future in this world.”
“If the moment with that strange man was a pop quiz, then this is certainly the test.”
