Story Snippet (3) POV: Cristin.

Maybe it was the fact that everyone had their eyes locked on the newcomer’s black eyes as soon as they opened, or maybe it was just the shock of everything; either way, the freak out was quite the spectacle on both sides, especially when the man exclaimed something as he tried to get up. It even got a few Chandalyns who were attempting to ignore the situation to walk past a little faster than usual.

Indeed, all would’ve been over for the peace of the Amethyst House if the little one holding the conical hat hadn’t decided to return it to its owner by shoving it over his face with a panicked screech, while Eed regained her wits and pulled the visitor into an empty room nearby.

Cristin watched all this happen but didn’t quite register anything until everyone else had disappeared into the empty room, when his thoughts finally untangled themselves and he realized he had understood what the man had said.

“I know his language!” Cristin announced as he joined the others in the empty room.

The room seemed to be a currently vacant storage room, filled with piles of empty stone tablets and other such study tools, the walls, like most in the mansion sized Amethyst House, were polished and carved white marble, the only light sources were that of bright purple crystals hanging from the ceiling and a stained glass window, emitting even more purple light onto the floor.

“Glad you’ve finally decided to join us,” Eed said, crossing her arms.

Now that they were in a position out of the way of the other inhabitants, the toddlers had seemed to get over their surprise at the odd visitor and returned to their disorderly nature, meanwhile their Aides seemed to have given up altogether and were currently discussing things with Eed at the other side of the room. This left the dark eyed man, who had positioned himself sitting down against the opposite wall below the window, to deal with the youth.

“I’ve contacted the Onyx Division, they should come when the rest of the students have returned to their study rooms, so as not to disrupt anything,” the nervous Aide reported.

“How’d he even get here?” Cristin chimed in, “shouldn’t he be in the Capital under the Elder’s watch?”

“He shouldn’t be here at all! It’s basically impossible, it’s as if he just appeared out of nowhere!” another Aide responded, running one of their crystal hands down their face.

“How he got here does not matter,” Eed said, “things will be taken care of shortly, but I for one would like to attempt to salvage this morning.”

“Cristin, come along, let’s see if you’ve learned anything from your studies all these years.”
