Story Snippet (2) (PAST) POV: Eed.

“Off to bed are we?” The Xemish words seemed to drift through one of the Chandalyn’s pointed ears and right out the other as he mumbled about something an intelligent person could only call gibberish. “About time you are, you’ll only be getting a few hours of sleep tonight, but alas, time waits for no one, and measured time is nonexistent in your book, yes?”

Cristin says nothing, pointing sleepily at his back.

“Right, of course, wouldn’t want to reawaken those sleepy eyes with this, would you?” Eed said as she pulled her crystal hand down the Brace, turning it off for the night.

“Well, see you in a few hours,” Eed said as Cristin collapsed onto the bed. It only took a minute, and she could hear the rhythmic breathing of a sleeping boy.

Eed sighs as she turns to the window above the study desk. Looking out of it for just a moment, she spots a flash of color on the horizon. “What an abnormal color, perhaps the Ruby House is up late again.”

In an instant, the color morphs into something of a projectile and plunges into the room, lighting it up with a flash of purples and blues. Eed blinks a few times as it vanishes, looking around with what someone might call confusion, before her vision erupts with a screen of purple, and then promptly fades to black.
