Character Used:

Story Snippet (?) (PAST) POV: Cristin.

“Cristin… what are you doing…”

Cristin immediately recognized his Aide’s echoed voice from behind him, and squinted at the purple blur it seemed to be coming from as he turned around.

“What in Crystalys have you done with your glasses young man? Do you know how hard those were to procure in this society?”

Cristin blinked hard to clear his vision before looking dejectedly to the floor.

“Why do some of us get bad crystals?”

Eed sighed, “unbelievable.”

Her form bent down toward Cristin’s downturned view, and he felt her smooth hand slowly ease his small face up toward hers.

“Cristin,” she said, switching languages, “whoever made a comment on your crystals probably has one uglier than yours.”

“But-“

“I want no ‘buts,’” Eed says, recovering her usual tone, “everyone, whether they deserve it or not, has a purpose on this planet, and one measly crystal is not going to stop you from achieving that. Not if I can help it anyhow.”

Cristin recalled how his job crystal had nothing to do with the conversation, but he didn’t feel like pointing that out to Eed, so instead he nodded.

“Now let’s find those glasses shall we? And you’ll be reciting Coo’ish vocabulary as we go, as I won’t be letting you waste any time today.”
