Aides
Every Chandalyn has an Aide, a crystal creature tasked with taking care of their ‘intellectual’ needs, they are crafted by the kid’s mind and always hover around them. They are created with all the intelligence and knowledge their ‘kid’ will need to know, and shatter when they have ‘done their job,’ they are more robotic than human in a sense. Besides the Caretakers, the Aides are the closest things to a parental figure a Chandalyn will ever know.
An Aide, as they are an extension of a Chandalyn’s mind, are tethered to their ‘child’; basically they can materialize at will but cannot go too far from their host without dissolving back towards the Chandalyn.
(Ive always wondered though, where do Aides go to? A pocket dimension? Does that even exist?)
It has never been understood whether or not an Aide has an actual conscience or not, as some are known to portray Chandalyn behaviors. It is not understood, however, whether their intelligence allows them to watch and copy to better comprehend their hosts, or if these behaviors are simply built into them. Research on these creatures, being rare as they are, was never properly conducted.
(If those creatures simply copy behaviors, then I suppose they have mastered the role of the exhausted parent. I’ve heard that Aides with Chandalyns still toddlers will even form their own versions of Mom Groups, whether or not that is still a thing at this time, I’ll have to ask our little friend)
